Not at all! Our beginner courses are designed for people with zero experience. We start from the fundamentals and ensure you feel safe and comfortable throughout.
Absolutely! A large portion of our students are women and first-time learners. We create a supportive, judgement-free environment for everyone.
Requirements vary by State. We cover all State legal requirements in our courses and with our Application Assistance Service, we guide you through the full application process.
Just yourself, a valid ID. and the QR Code you were provided during registration. ⚠️SAFETY NOTE: The possession of firearms is prohibited in all during the classroom portion of the training.

Your instructor will provide you with use of firearm for training and qualification, ammunition, targets, Low-Profile Shooting Ear Muffs (yours to keep) and Ballistic Shooting Glasses (yours to keep). Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes.
⚠️SAFETY NOTE: You are prohibited from bringing firearms into the training facility during the live-fire portion of the training unless expressly authorized and directed by the instructor.
No. YAD Tactical Academy provides training and certification only. We do not sell, transfer, or deal in firearms.

Yes. Many states offer non-resident concealed carry permits. All of our permit courses are designed to meet the requirements for eligible non-resident applications.
Your residency status is based on the address listed on your driver’s license or state ID. Even if you own or stay at multiple homes, the address on your official ID is what determines your status.
Yes. We highly recommend it. The application process can be complicated, and even small errors can result in delays or denials. Our Application Assistance service helps you get it right the first time, minimizing setbacks and helping you achieve a faster approval.
No. Courses provide the required training only. All approval decisions are made solely by the NYPD Licensing Division. However, our Application Assistance service helps you complete your application accurately and avoid common errors, improving your chances of a smoother and more timely approval.
Once you complete the course, you’ll receive your certified training certificate, along with essential knowledge and basic guidance on the next steps. You will then apply through the NYPD Licensing Portal. Our Application Assistance service helps you navigate the application process accurately, reducing delays and strengthening your submission.
Reciprocity refers to agreements between states that recognize each other’s concealed carry permits. These agreements vary, and some states fully honor out-of-state permits, while others apply specific restrictions. CLICK HERE to view which states recognize your permit.
No. Course fees do not include NYPD application fees. The NYPD Licensing Division currently charges:
$340 for a Concealed Carry permit
$140 for a Rifle/Shotgun permit
$88.25 one-time fingerprinting fee
We recommend applying for the Rifle/Shotgun permit at the same time as your CCW permit to maximize value and avoid going through the application process again later.
Possibly. Prior arrests do not automatically disqualify you, particularly if the case was dismissed or sealed. Each situation is evaluated individually. Reach out to us for guidance on your specific ccumstances.
